ViVE 2024 Health Tech Showcase: What is Patient Engagement | Part 7

And last, but not least, when you have on-ramps and off-ramps and you’re controlling, and you’ve got signs, as you all know, with highways there are always bad actors. It is impossible to know what’s going on at every minute. Let’s say you’re the average health system with 11 different technology solutions that engage with your patients. They’re all running through your common infrastructure at some point in time. Some workflow’s going to get messed up, and someone’s going to get 100 communications in the span of 1 minute, and they’re going to be ready to leave your system. And this is where speed traps are really important.

In our analogy, we call this a normalized data store. So for those of you who have done clinical data exchange in the past, you would never hold your data in multiple enterprise data warehouses. You make every vendor that works with you integrate. It could be fire APIs. It could be proprietary, EMR APIs, it could be HL7 feeds. But there is a standard for how you push and pull data when you are selling into healthcare. We do not impose the same standard when it comes to patient communication.

So what happens in your patient education vendor and your regulatory survey tool and your CRM and your call center? There is no way to reconcile that data and get a true view of your patient’s complete journey. And that’s where normalized data storage comes into place. We believe that you should force your entire universe of solutions to send you the data, either your own enterprise, data, warehouse or a third-party tool, so that you know exactly what’s going on, so that we can tell you when that experience that I had on Sunday, with 3 push notifications, 3 text messages, 3 emails and a text message happens to your patients as well. And then you have the tools to fix them right. So what are my biggest problems? Where are the workflows living? And how can I fix those individually?
